1/1000 Next Generation Star Ship

The images below show the master pattern parts for a studio scale model, the same size as the 2-foot special effects model built by ILM for the show. The project started out as a CAD model and has been quite an enterprise, but I believe it was worth the trek.

The decal sheets were drawn by me for the model.

3D printed parts aren't always suitable for building a model as the material can be brittle or otherwise fragile. For this reason, silicone molds were taken from the pattern parts and urethane castings were made. Most of the model is cast in translucent resins to aid in lighting. The saucer is made of fiberglass while the remaining pieces are pressure-cast. The images below show some of these these castings.

The dimensions of the model are 25.3" x 19" x 5.5".
