SHADO SkyDiver



These are the 3D files I used to to print the masters for a 1/48 scale resin model kit of the fabulous SkyDiver submarine-fighter plane combo from the 1969-70 Gerry Anderson TV show "UFO". This model is studio scale, the same size as one of the filming minatures used on the show. Though it's sized like the smaller studio model, it has many of the details of the larger version, which looks better, in my opinion. The Sky 1 jet was offered as a resin kit from 2018-2025. Diver was never offered as a resin kit. Instructions for the old Sky 1 resin kit can be seen here.

These files were originally made in the 2017-2018 time period. The Sky 1 files were cleaned up and slightly updated in February 2025 while the Diver files were refinished March 2026. Those who previously purchased my Sky 1 resin kit may notice some changes. For example,the nose section has been broken out into a separate part to accomodate a wider variety of resin printers. Also, grillwork has been added to the lower inlet. A few years back, I changed the muzzles of the guns, making the ends of the flash hiders a bit thinner, and some of the decals were altered to be more accurate. Those changes are carried over to this release. Lastly, a separate canopy section with integrated glass has been included for those who don't wish to fiddle with the individual panes and would prefer to print the whole piece in clear.

The Sky 1 set consists of 25 STL files and a decal sheet while Diver consists of 23 STL files and 2 decal sheets. For printing, the parts are designed to fit in a build volume of 218mm x 122mm x 200mm. Locating pins and tabs are included on many parts to aid in assembly.

The completed Sky 1 model measures about 11.5" x 9" x 4.5". A terrific build-up of my original resin kit, made from the original versions of these parts, by modeler John Payne can be seen here.

The complete Diver section measures about 17.25" x 10.25" x 9.5".

Please be advised that this offering is meant for highly skilled modelers with the understanding that post-printing cleanup, processing and sanding/smoothing may be needed before the parts can be assembled.

I may be printing some copies of these models to make available for those who don't have plans to own a 3D printer. I have no idea how much these would cost, but they won't be cheap; a single Diver section can take up to a week to print.
